Umehani Rehmanji

Editor-in-Chief

Umehani Rehmanji from East Brunswick, New Jersey is a senior in the New Brunswick Arts and Sciences Honors Program, as well as the School of Communication and Information where she majors in Journalism and Media Studies with a minor in Economics.

On campus, Umehani works with the Center for Youth Political Participation as an RU Voting Intern, advocating for public participation in democracy, and working to keep voters informed. Over the summer she completed an internship with the joint legislative offices of Assemblyman Frieman and Assemblywoman Drulis where she worked on constituent communications as a legislative intern. Last year, she interned for the New Jersey State House News Service at the New Jersey State House, where she covered legislative news, elections, interviewed Governor Phil Murphy, and had multiple articles published in various news outlets.

She is an active member of the Eagleton Institute of Politics as an Undergraduate Associate and Editor-in-Chief of the Eagleton Political Journal. Throughout each of her roles, she has had the opportunity to explore the role of journalism in preserving democracy and its’ impact on individual rights and freedoms, a topic she is passionate about.
